Vinegar Slaw
Cole slaw is a big thing with BBQ. I am not going to make you read through a whole bunch of crap to get to the recipe, but most people around are so use to mayo based coleslaw, an easy vinegar based slaw goes a long way, and really amplifies your bbq. I did a test last week and people were very suspect of the Vinegar Slaw until they tasted it... This recipe is a crisp lightly coated vinegar slaw. You can adjust per your liking to sweeten in up and wet it down if you would like.
Time: Prep Max 2-3 minutes if you buy bagged coleslaw (but suggest letting sit over night)
What you need:
- 16 oz Cole slaw mix (if you want to shave your own go for it)
- 1/2 Cup OG Vinegar Sauce (Can add more if you want more tang but I am a crisp lightly touched slaw guy)
- If you want to make it sweeter a couple table spoons of Agave or Honey.
Recipe:
Place your Coleslaw mix in a bowl (i use a lot of aluminum foil pans so I did it in that)
- measure out about 1/2 cup of the OG Vinegar Sauce (Start with that... Remember you can add more, you cannot take away)
- Pour the OG Vinegar sauce over the slaw mix and then toss with tongs (or if you feeling fancy in the bowl)
- If you are looking for a hint more of sweet add in about 2 tablespoons of Honey or Agave into the measured out OG Vinegar sauce and mix thoroughly before spreading on the slaw. They will look the exact same but you will get more of a sweet note. Feel free to add more than the 2 tablespoons if you want it sweeter. You can add more OG Vinegar back on to balance out if you add too much (just be careful not to make it too wet)
- Let rest overnight in the Fridge. Taste and adjust prior to serving.
If making a larger batch use equal parts of Slaw to vinegar and adjust as necessary.
Enjoy,
